Yang Fu An, male, was found on January 3, 2004 at the gate of a storage and shipping station on Bang Jiang Road, Xin
Xian Towhship, Yun Yang County by a citizen named Li Xiao Bing. He was brought to our institute for caretaking
on the same day. At the time he was found, he was wrapped in careworn clothing, and covered in a warm yellow beach
towel. There was a birth note found with him, stating his birthday to be on January 2, 2004.
At the time of admission, he was 2 days old. We named him Yang Fu An. Yang is the second character of the town in
which he was found. Fu is the first character of Fu Li Yuan, which means Welfare Institute, and An means safe and
tranquil. It is a very lucky name for this infant. The first week Fu An spent with us at the institute, he had an excellent
appetite for milk, consuming 60-70 ml each feeding, sleeping about 20 hours each day. Physical exam and observations
showed a normal infant.
At our institute, Yang Fu An enjoys our group living arrangement. He is bottle fed and we regularly supplement his
diet with vitamins and minerals. He grows healthy and strong under the excellent care of our loving staff. Between the
first and second month, he could turn his head and look at objects. When somebody stood next to his bed, he would
turn to look at you, intently, focus on you and make baby babbles. Now his height is 55 cm, chest 39 cm, head 39
cm and weight 4.65 kg. He has a lovely, dignified look.
Yang Fu An’s life has a good schedule. He gets up at around 6:00 a.m. daily. He takes a nap between 11:30 a.m. and 2:
00 p.m. He has a second nap between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m., going to bed at 10:00 p.m. He drinks milk 6-7 times per
day, 90-100 ml each meal. Yang Fu An has his first meal after he gets up in the morning, then every three to four
hours, he continues to feed. He has 1-2 bowel movements per day and about 10 urinations per day.
Yang Fu An, although small in stature, is very agile and quick. He has a solid head of hair, fair skin, a dignified, stately
look, isn’t fussy and is healthy. He is very lovable and a delight. He has had all his scheduled immunizations. His
physical and intellectual developments are all normal.
Below are pictures of Travers Fu An Wong during his 1st two weeks with us while still in China.

Grandma and Grandpa
Gagnon had lots of time
with Travers and he
loves all of attention he
is getting.
On Monday, Sept 13th, we had to register our
adoption with the Chinese Government. As we waited
on the bus outside the office, people stared at the
white faces holding Chinese babies. When we went
inside Travers was reunited with his caregiver for the
last time. She spoke to him in Chinese and got him to
laugh and shake his head; she obviously spent lots of
time with him. In the end, he was fingerprinted and we
took a final picture with the women from the
orphanage.
With the exception of the registration and two group meetings on separate
mornings, the three of us spend a lot of time in our room getting to know one
another. Mom and Dad revert back to an infant's life style; we eat, sleep,
poop, crawl on the floor. Sometime I look over and see Heather drooling. We
find ourselves doing what he is doing, when he is doing it. By the end of the
day we even smell like him.
Heather finds time to teach him how to look up houses on Reece Nichols
website.
We couldn't have a more perfect child. He
loves his Mom and Dad, but everyone else
makes him laugh out loud. Just like his
translated letter says, he sleeps through the
night, naps twice a day, eats every 3-4
hours, and goes to the bathroom 10-12
times per day. When he is awake he hates
to be alone, and loves being held. He
speaks fluent Chinese and has been helpful
in translating. Just kidding.
When Travers gets restless we all get cabin fever. He loves
cruising Chongqing slung to Heather's side. However, every
time we go out we usually expect a crowd. The funny thing is
that only a few were interested in the babies, most came to
see what the others were looking at; as more gathered, more
became interested, and the crowd kept growing in size.
Invariably the police would arrive.
